Now in two sites, a swanky new Pier Head satellite with a 4D surround sound, immersive ‘experience’ and the darkly atmospheric Albert Dock cellars (a close enough representation of the Cavern Club). For Beatles fans, and for anyone with even a passing interest in 20th century culture, these sites offer a thoroughly engaging exhibition, tracing the lads’ route from the banks of the Mersey to the stadia of the world. Through engaging tableaux and original memorabilia the journey takes you from the bierkellers of Hamburg to the Palladium and on to those ‘troubled’ later years with plenty of fascinating artefacts, interactive fun and, yes, even original smells too (you’ll have to visit to find out…)
